Why We Eat What We Eat

Why We Eat What We Eat?
We are researching why we eat the foods we eat, for My 5th period class, so i decided to share what i learned. . Our objective is to examine the things that affect you and your family’s nutrition and eating habits through life. The C.L.E is to put to use nutrition and food rules that develop people health.  I found out that we eat certain foods for several of reasons, from social influences to personal influences. In the next few paragraphs, I will elaborate more on the different reasons on why we eat what we eat.
The first reason is social influences, which are: regional traditions, cultural, religion, family, friends, and media. Regional traditions influence what I eat because I’m from the south. In the south we eat pig feet, grits, and chitins. For example, Up north Chitins probably cost more than they do in the south, so people in the north may not eat them like we eat them in the south. The south is also known for the best Bar-B-Q, so we have a lot of places that sells bar-b-q, which mean I eat a lot of bar- b- q because it’s a huge supply here. Cultural also have an influence on what I eat. For example, I eat Chinese rice and sesame chicken. I also eat tacos which are from México. Religion doesn’t influence what I eat. I don’t have any religion rules that would stop me from eating certain foods.  My family has the most influence on what I eat. When my mother cooks some new, she makes us eat it, so we have no choice but to eat it. My family also influenced what I eat because we stay in the same house, and we all have different taste, but we encourage each other to try new things. For example, One day my sister tried something new with her noodles, she put butter peppers, seasoning, and hot sauce, and so now I make my noodles the same way.  My friends are another big influence. My friends bring new things to school and offer it to me, me being me I reject at first, but then I’ll give it a try. For example, one day my Hispanic friend brought some spicy Mexican candy to school, and she let me try it, but I didn’t like it. Media plays a big role on why I eat what I eat also. The media have the skill to make things look and sound so delicious. For example, food from Crystals look better on Television than it do in person. It makes me want to go buy some food from Crystals, even though I don’t eat they food anymore. For example, when taco bell started making that Doritos locos taco commercial, I immediately told my mother to take me to taco bell.
The final reason is personal influences, which are: personal tastes, physical change, and lifestyle. My personal tastes really influence my food choices a lot. I’m a very picky person when it comes to my food. If it doesn’t look good, or smell good, I will not try it. There are so many things that I just don’t like to eat.  For example, I hate tomatoes, so if something has tomatoes on it I will not eat it for nothing in the world. Physical change really doesn’t influence what I eat, but it does just a little bit. I’m working on getting rid of my acne. It has cleared up a lot, but if I want it completely gone I have to stop drinking a lot of acid and sugars. I really don’t drink a lot of sodas with acid in them, and don’t eat a lot of sweets. My lifestyle really doesn’t affect what I eat. Sometimes, in my house, it’s every man for them self. My mother cooks like 3 times a week. I cook sometimes, and my little sister cooks every blue moon. If neither one of us cook, then everybody fin for them self. For example, I would just fix me a sandwich with some chips on the side, my sister will fix like two packs of noodles, and my mother on the other hand would just find some to eat.  Sometimes we will just go buy some fast food and call it a day. For example, we will probably eat taco bell, subway, or McDonalds. JROTC affects my eating too. In JROTC when we have a drill meet, competition, or some type of activity, we just go back to the school. When we get back to the school, we order pizza, go buy some snacks, drinks, and whatever else we may want. In JROTC, we eat a lot of pizza. When volleyball season was in, we didn’t eat before the game, so after the game I would always go to McDonalds. I learned that a lot of things influence what I eat.
