"Keep America American"
What do you think of when you hear this phrase " Keep America American?" Well, Mitt Romney used this phrase as a slogan. This slogan was once used by the Klu Klux Klan in the 1920's. When I heard that this slogan once belonged to the KKK's I instantly said that Romney was racist. I don't think this was just a mis-understanding, I believe he knew that " Keep America American' came from the KKK's and just thought no one would catch on to it. People are trying to say that they twisted his words and he said " Keep America America", but I honestly think he said " Keep America American." In my opinion, Romney has the same mind set as the KKK's did, I say that because of the slogan he is using. For someone to be trying to get people votes, that slogan is not doing him justice. It's only making blacks dis like him and other races such as Hispanics, Africans etc. In my opinion, Romney is basically trying to say he want to get rid of the other races besides white. Instead of him trying to build our country up, he rather bring it down . By that i mean in \stead of him trying to help the less fortunate he rather help the people with money and basically leave the unfortunate, which mainly consist of blacks and Hispanics, behind.Nicki Minaj really struck a nerve with me when she mention in her song that she would be voting for Romney. To be honest, I only think she said that to get people attention because, in my opinion Nicki has been falling off. Then again she is Nicki Minaj and she just say stupid stuff just cause she can. A lot of people is mad at Nicki for saying she"s going to vote for Mitt Romney, she will be losing a lot of fans because of that. I don't dislike her because of who she's voting for, but I do think she's crazy for choosing him. How do you guys feel about Mitt Romney slogan and Nicki Minaj decision?
I understand your point, but think about this; remember they "N" word controversy. The term has been transformed from a derogatory term; into a buddy term. This maybe what Romney is trying to do with the phrase. He could be trying to help America move past a negative time in history.
ReplyDeleteWell K.J. I get your point but still I think he could have came up with a better slogan than that. Like a more positive slogan.
DeleteWell, Romney SAID this phrase in a speech, but supposedly it is not the campaign slogan.
ReplyDelete@Kendrick- yeah maybe, but I don't think any of those rationales are sound. Nothing that is a reminder of hatred or racism or terrorism should be used. I wish the N word would just up and disappear.
I think the same way that you do because of the fact of him being an obviously educated person, he more than likely had to do research in order to get his campaign together. However, I feel that you got a bit off topic when you mentioned to Nicki Minaj.
